Archbishop Gänswein: "Now Is the Time to Abolish Traditionis Custodes"

Archbishop Georg Gänswein hopes the restrictions on the Mass in the Roman rite will be lifted, he told Il Giornale on July 7.
Looking back to Benedict XVI's 2007 Motu Proprio Summorum Pontificum, Monsignor Gänswein said the Pope wanted to restore “full rights to a rite that had never been abolished”: “His goal was to give it its rightful place again within the Church and to restore peace in the Church's liturgical life.”
According to Archbishop Gänswein, Summorum Pontificum was not conceived as a step toward reconciliation with the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Pius X. Rather, “it was directed toward the Church itself.”
Benedict XVI was pleased with the results of this reform. “It was beginning to bear fruit. It worked especially well among young people, and this is evident above all in the steadily growing numbers participating each year in the Paris-to-Chartres pilgrimage.”
Monsignor Gänswein added that these young people are not opposed to the Second Vatican Council: “Anyone who …ເພີ່ມເຕີ່ມ

Müller contradicts Fernández and maintains that the confessions of the FSSPX are valid

FSSPX Confessions Valid - Cardinal Müller Doubles Down

On July 6, Cardinal Gerhard Müller told K-TV.org that FSSPX confessions are illicit but valid. Now he has repeated his disagreement with the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith. Its explanatory note from July 2 had claimed that confessions heard by FSSPX priests are "invalid."
"The note from the Dicastery, which appears only as explanatory notes, is unclear," Cardinal Müller told Andreas Wailzer on X.com on July 8.
He added: "The authority to forgive sins is conferred by Christ Himself in the sacrament of Holy Orders. It is not conferred by the Pope through his primacy of jurisdiction. Orthodox priests, too, validly grant absolution."
Müller continued: "The Pope can only prohibit the exercise of this authority. He can also reserve certain sins for his own absolution. One example is the sin against the unity of the Church, committed through an unauthorized episcopal consecration."

U.S. Ambassador Hosted Pope Leo XIV for July 4 Dinner

U.S. Ambassador to the Holy See Brian Burch has described an informal Independence Day dinner he hosted for Pope Leo XIV at his residence in Rome.
Speaking with Italian media, Burch said the pope arrived at 7:30 p.m. on July 4, prayed with the ambassador's family, and shared a meal featuring American charcuterie, watermelon salad, Chicago-style hot dogs, apple pie, and gelato. Burch said Leo XIV approved of the menu.
The pope arrived without aides or secretaries, accompanied only by two Vatican gendarmes.
Burch said he invited Leo XIV to mark the 250th anniversary of the United States by hosting the first U.S.-born pope. The invitation was sent about two months before the dinner, and confirmation came about a month later.
The ambassador also said Leo XIV still carries a Peruvian credit card, uses a cellphone, follows the Chicago White Sox, and sometimes wakes during the night to check soccer scores.
The dinner took place the same day Leo XIV visited Lampedusa. Burch said the pope rejected …ເພີ່ມເຕີ່ມ

Majority of Britons Fear Diversity Destroying National Identity, Four in Ten Say Muslims Can’t Integrate – Allah's Willing Executioners

Medforth AI A majority of Britons believe that their national identity is being diminished, while many believe that certain groups, such as Muslims, will not be able to integrate into British society. A survey from the More in Common polling firm found that 55 per cent of the British public believe their country’s national identity is disappearing due to the artificial diversity imposed by the mass migration agenda favoured by the political establishment. The poll further found that 42 per cent of voters do not believe that Muslims can be integrated into British society. This sentiment was most pronounced among supporters of Nigel Farage’s Reform UK party at 71 per cent, the left-wing Guardian newspaper reported. Additionally, 31 per cent of respondents said that they were open to the notion that non-white people could “never be as British” as the native white population, while 33 per cent said they favoured “remigration”. This came in contrast to opinions from Muslims in Britain, 85…

Leo XIV Inherited a Crisis - and Makes It Worse

In a July 6 InfoVaticana.com opinion piece ("Tribune"), Pedro Gómez Carrizo argues that decades of doctrinal and disciplinary drift have hollowed out the Church's authority.
He writes that Leo XIV demands obedience from the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Pius X. after years of treating other disputes as negotiable, contextual, or exempt.
Leo XIV' Priorities Exposed
Rome has tolerated what Carrizo considers far more serious ruptures than the episcopal consecration of the FSSPX:
- Germany's Synodal Way, which has drifted toward schism without consequence.
- Episcopal appointments negotiated with China's Communist Party.
- Blessings of homosexual couples.
- Liturgical experimentation.
- Synodality, which has repackaged old heresies as "innovation".
The willingness to make exceptions in many controversial areas while drawing an absolute line at Écône, Carrizo contends, exposes the pope’s priorities rather than his strength.

SSPX: Neither Schismatic Nor Disobedient

Faced with the profusion of statements, articles and interviews which present the Society of Saint Pius X as responsible for a fracture within the Church, for a very serious disobedience towards the Holy Father, or even for a real schism, it seems appropriate to write a few lines in order to provide some clarification. Our method will always be the same, not impressions, nor “hearsay,” nor the lucubrations of the occasional commentator, but Catholic theology, drawn from its sources: the constant Magisterium of the Church and the teaching of the great theologians and canonists. 1. The Society of Saint Pius X Is Not Schismatic Cardinal Tommaso de Vio (known as Cajetan, 1469-1534), one of the greatest theologians of all time, explicitly stated: “Disobeying, even obstinately, the Sovereign Pontiff does not constitute a schism. What constitutes a schism is refusing to submit to him as head of the whole Church.” 1 What is the difference between simple disobedience, which does not lead to schism …

Tibetan Rituals in a U.S. Church. Worse than Germany: On Monday, more than 60 Tibetans gathered at Most Holy Redeemer Church in Hadley, Massachusetts, to celebrate the Dalai Lama's 91st birthday and mark the conclusion of the "Year of Compassion," an initiative of the Central Tibetan Administration. The event opened with a ritual in which participants chanted "Om" three times and tossed tsampa (barley flour) into the air. Attendees also made mandala offerings by bowing and placing a white ceremonial scarf before a photo of the Dalai Lama. The celebration continued with speeches, traditional Tibetan songs and dances, and performances by students from a local Tibetan Sunday school.

Celebrating compassion, preserving culture

HADLEY — Arranged in a semicircle at the Most Holy Redeemer Church parking lot on Monday, Tibetans took a deep breath of juniper-scented air, raised the flour pinched between their fingers and let out their breath in a long, harmonious “om.” As soon as the third sacred chant ended, they tossed the barley flour, known as tsampa, into the air to create small clouds of joy. The ritual marked the beginning of western Massachusetts’ observance of the 14th Dalai Lama’s 91st birthday. More than 60 Tibetans gathered at the Regional Tibetan Association of Massachusetts event to enjoy Tibetan song and dance, connect over a meal and conclude the Year of Compassion — a call to action by Central Tibetan Administration encouraging acts of generosity and care around the world. Dhardon Sharling, a member of the Year of Compassion Committee, speaks at a Tibetan community celebration for the Dalai Lama’s 91st birthday at Most Holy Redeemer Church in Hadley on Monday. Cardinal Bagnasco: Why Not Summorum Pontificum?

"There are many rites in the Catholic Church; in Milan, for example, there is the Ambrosian Rite," Cardinal Angelo Bagnasco told AdVaticanum.com on July 8.
He added: "The document of Benedict XVI, Summorum Pontificum, does not create a new liturgical rite, but recognises, within the one Roman Rite, an ordinary form and an extraordinary form."
For the Cardinal, the issue is not the unity of the faith but rather "legitimate personal sensibilities": "If, in this area, differences do not become absolutes, banners, or parties, then why not?"

No, it was Montini with Bugnini who created it. Ratzinger just tried to save it by imposing a legal fiction of two forms of the same rite for ontologically and historically different rites.

Attacks against Christians in Israel double: spitting, assaults, and threats increase in Jerusalem

Attacks against Christians in Israel continue to rise. During the second quarter of 2026, the recorded assaults nearly doubled compared to the first three months of the year, according to a report by the Religious Freedom Data Center, which warns of an increase in hate incidents, especially in Jerusalem. According to the KNA news agency, 83 anti-Christian incidents were documented between April and June, compared to 44 recorded in the first quarter. Of these, ten involved threats or physical assaults. Most of the cases occurred in Jerusalem, particularly in the Old City. Spitting and assaults in public spaces The report notes that more than half of the reported incidents consisted of spitting directed at Christians, a practice that for years has especially affected priests, religious, and pilgrims walking the streets of Jerusalem. In total, 68 of the 83 incidents took place in Jerusalem and 46 occurred in the Old City, where numerous Christian holy sites are concentrated. The authors …
